This simple and quick Yogurt Flatbread recipe requires only two main ingredients and no yeast, making it perfect for an easy homemade bread fix. Soft, fluffy, and slightly tangy, these flatbreads cook on the stovetop in minutes and are ideal for dipping, wrapping, or serving alongside your favorite meals.

Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • ¾ cup plain Greek yogurt (non-fat preferred)
  • 1 cup self-raising flour (or 1 cup plain all-purpose flour + 1 teaspoon baking powder)
  • Pinch of salt

For Cooking

  • Olive oil spray or lightly brushed olive oil

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour and a pinch of salt. If using plain all-purpose flour, also add 1 teaspoon of baking powder and stir well to distribute.
  2. Add Yogurt & Form Dough: Add the yogurt to the flour mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon until a rough dough forms, then use one hand to mix until a cohesive ball is formed.
  3. Knead Dough: Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead by hand for 3-5 minutes until smooth. If sticky, add a little more flour as needed. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes to relax.
  4. Portion Dough: Divide the rested dough into 4 equal pieces and roll each into a ball.
  5. Roll Flatbreads: Dust your work surface with flour. Using a rolling pin, flatten each dough ball into a circle about 16-18 cm (6-7 inches) in diameter. Sprinkle flour as needed and flip the dough to prevent sticking.
  6. Heat Pan: Preheat a non-stick pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Spray or lightly brush with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  7. Cook Flatbreads: Place one dough circle into the hot pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form on the surface and the bottom side turns golden brown.
  8. Flip and Finish Cooking: Gently lift a corner to check doneness, then flip using a spatula. Cook the second side for 1-2 minutes until puffed and golden.
  9. Serve Warm: Remove from pan and keep warm by covering with a clean kitchen towel or foil. Repeat cooking for remaining pieces. Serve soft and delicious for dips, wraps, or alongside meals.

Notes

  • You can use either self-raising flour or plain all-purpose flour with added baking powder for rising.
  • If dough is too sticky, add flour gradually to help kneading and rolling.
  • Keep the flatbreads warm in a covered towel before serving for best texture.
  • These flatbreads are great for quick meals like wraps, dipping into hummus, or pairing with feta cheese.
  • Use a non-stick pan or skillet for best cooking results and to minimize oil use.
