This creamy, tangy Tahini Miso Dressing-Dip is a quick and versatile sauce that combines the nutty flavor of tahini with the savory depth of white miso, balanced by the sweetness of maple syrup and a bright hint of lemon. Perfect for drizzling over salads, serving as a dip, or enhancing bowls, it comes together in just 5 minutes with simple ingredients and minimal effort.

Ingredients

For the Dressing-Dip

  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 1 tablespoon white miso (preferably Miso Master)
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon tamari (can substitute with soy sauce or mineral salt to taste)
  • Pinch or two of red pepper flakes, optional
  • 1 to 4 tablespoons water, plus more as needed

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a small to medium size bowl, add tahini, white miso, maple syrup, lemon juice, tamari, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir to begin blending the flavors.
  2. Add Water Gradually: Slowly add water in small increments, stirring continuously until you reach your desired consistency. Use less water for a thicker dip or sauce, and add more if you want a pourable salad dressing.
  3. Taste and Adjust: Sample the dressing and adjust flavors if needed by adding more tamari for saltiness or maple syrup for sweetness.
  4. Serve: Use immediately as a dip for veggies, a sauce for bowls, or drizzle over salads.
  5. Store Leftovers: Transfer any leftover dressing to an airtight container and refrigerate. It will keep well for up to 5 to 6 days.

Notes

  • For a thinner dressing, add water gradually until pouring consistency is reached; for dips, keep it thicker.
  • Substitute tamari with soy sauce for gluten-containing option or use mineral salt adjusted to taste.
  • Red pepper flakes add a subtle heat but can be omitted for a milder flavor.
  • Shake or stir well before each use if stored as some separation may occur.
  • Great as a versatile, plant-based dressing for salads, roasted veggies, grain bowls, or as a flavorful dip.
