Sweetened Condensed Milk Snowballs are delicate, light, and fluffy cookies made with only five simple ingredients. Slightly sweet and subtly rich, these budget-friendly treats are quick to prepare and perfect for those looking for an easy homemade dessert.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Beat Butter: Add the softened butter to a mixing bowl and beat until light and creamy, about three minutes.
  2. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Pour in the sweetened condensed milk and beat into the butter for two minutes. If adding flavor extracts, add up to 2 teaspoons now and mix well.
  3. Scrape and Beat: Scrape down the sides of the bowl and continue beating for another one to two minutes to ensure even mixing.
  4. Add Dry Ingredients: Add the flour and baking powder to the mixture and beat until just combined. If desired, fold in up to 1 cup of mix-ins like chocolate chips or dried cranberries at this stage.
  5. Portion Dough: Using a cookie scoop, place dollops of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving at least two inches of space between each mound.
  6. Bake: Bake the cookies in a preheated oven at 320°F (160°C) for 12 minutes.
  7. Cool Slightly: Remove cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for five minutes.
  8. Transfer and Dust: Transfer the cookies to a wire cooling rack. Using a sifter, dust the tops liberally with confectioner’s sugar.
  9. Cool Completely: Allow cookies to cool fully before storing to maintain their light texture.

Notes

  • Do not add more than 2 teaspoons of any flavor extract to avoid altering the texture.
  • Optional mix-ins should be limited to 1 cup to maintain dough consistency.
  • Cool cookies completely before storing to avoid sogginess.
  • These cookies are best stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • Ensure spacing between cookies during baking to prevent spreading into each other.
