A quick and healthy Strawberry Chia Jam recipe that requires only a few ingredients and minimal cooking time. This no-sugar-added jam uses chia seeds to naturally thicken the fresh or frozen strawberries, resulting in a nutritious and delicious spread perfect for toast, yogurt, or desserts.

Ingredients

Jam Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Strawberries: Add the strawberries into a saucepan and turn the heat to medium. Begin mashing the berries with a fork until they are mostly mashed and releasing their juices.
  2. Add Chia Seeds and Vanilla: Stir in the chia seeds and vanilla bean paste, mixing thoroughly to combine the ingredients evenly.
  3. Cook the Jam: Allow the mixture to come to a gentle boil for 10 to 15 seconds while stirring occasionally, then promptly remove the saucepan from heat to prevent overcooking.
  4. Cool and Store: Transfer the jam into a glass jar and let it cool completely at room temperature before using. Store the jam in the refrigerator for up to one week for best freshness.

Notes

  • Use fresh or frozen strawberries; frozen berries will work just as well.
  • Vanilla bean paste is optional but adds a lovely depth of flavor.
  • Chia seeds act as a natural thickener without needing extra sugar or pectin.
  • Store the jam refrigerated and consume within one week for best taste and safety.
  • For a smoother texture, mash the strawberries more thoroughly or blend slightly before cooking.
