This vibrant and creamy Jalapeno Mayo is a zesty condiment perfect for adding a spicy kick to sandwiches, burgers, tacos, or as a dipping sauce. Made with fresh jalapeno peppers, mayonnaise, sour cream, and lime juice, it balances heat and tang beautifully in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Jalapeno Mayo Ingredients

  • ½ cup mayonnaise (good quality store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream (or more mayonnaise as a substitute)
  • 2 jalapeno peppers (deseeded and roughly diced)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1-2 teaspoons lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Jalapenos: Deseed and remove the ribs from the jalapenos, then roughly dice them. Retain the seeds if you desire extra heat for later adjustment.
  2. Blend Jalapenos: Place the diced jalapenos into a mini food processor and blend until very finely chopped. If a food processor is unavailable, mince the jalapenos finely with a knife and chopping board.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Add lime juice, mayonnaise, sour cream, dried oregano, and a pinch of salt to the blended jalapenos in the processor, then pulse to combine everything into a smooth, creamy mixture.
  4. Taste and Adjust: Taste your jalapeno mayo. Add additional lime juice for extra tang, more salt as needed, or jalapeno seeds for increased heat according to your preference.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Use immediately or refrigerate to let the flavors meld. Perfect as a spicy spread or dipping sauce.

Notes

  • You can substitute the sour cream with additional mayonnaise if you prefer a thicker consistency or do not have sour cream on hand.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding jalapeno seeds after blending, starting with a small amount to control the heat.
  • This jalapeno mayo keeps well refrigerated for up to one week.
  • For a smoother texture, process longer or strain out small bits after blending.
