Ingredients
Chocolate and Caramel Coating
- 8 oz. (227 g) milk chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark chocolate can also be used)
- 11.5 oz. (326 g, 1 jar) Smuckers Simple Delights Salted Caramel Ice Cream Topping (or any salted caramel syrup/topping)
Cereal and Coating
- 18 oz. (510 g, 1 box) corn Chex cereal
- 1-2 cups (113-226 g) powdered sugar
Optional Mix-ins
- ½ cup (84 g) Toll House DelightFulls Milk Chocolate Morsels with Caramel Filling (or alternatively chocolate chips, caramel baking chips, or Rolos)
Instructions
- Melt the Chocolate: Place the milk chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring between intervals until fully melted and smooth. Set this melted chocolate aside.
- Melt the Caramel Topping: Heat the Smuckers Salted Caramel Ice Cream Topping in the microwave for 45 to 60 seconds until it softens and becomes runny. Combine the melted caramel with the melted chocolate and mix thoroughly to create a smooth caramel-chocolate blend.
- Coat the Cereal: Pour the corn Chex cereal into a large mixing bowl. Pour the caramel-chocolate mixture over the cereal, stirring gently but thoroughly until every piece of cereal is evenly coated with the mixture.
- Powdered Sugar Coating: Divide the coated cereal equally into two large Ziplock bags. Pour half of the powdered sugar into each bag, seal tightly, and shake or toss vigorously until the cereal pieces are thoroughly coated in powdered sugar. Pour the coated cereal back into a large bowl.
