Delicious and nutritious salmon meatballs specially crafted for dogs, made with fresh salmon, oats, grated carrot, and parsley. These bite-sized treats are baked to perfection, providing a healthy and tasty snack your furry friend will love.

Ingredients

Salmon Meatball Ingredients

  • 1 lb. fresh salmon (finely diced or pulsed in a mini food processor)
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup oats
  • ¼ cup finely grated carrot
  • 1 tablespoon chopped curly parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Salmon: Carefully check the salmon for any bones or skin and remove them. Finely dice the salmon or pulse it in a mini food processor until broken up into small pieces suitable for meatball formation.
  3. Mix Ingredients: In a medium bowl, gently fold together the salmon, egg, oats, grated carrot, and parsley until just combined. The mixture should be sticky enough to hold together when pressed. If too wet, add more oats; if too dry, add a splash of water.
  4. Form Meatballs: Use a small cookie scoop to portion the mixture into uniform sizes, approximately 1 tablespoon each. Roll each portion gently between your hands to shape small, bite-sized meatballs.
  5. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the meatballs spaced slightly apart on the prepared baking sheet to ensure even cooking.
  6. Bake: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes until they are set and slightly golden on the outside.
  7. Cool: Allow the meatballs to cool completely before serving them to your dog to ensure safety and optimal enjoyment.

Notes

  • Check carefully for fish bones to prevent choking hazards for your dog.
  • Parsley is optional but can help freshen your dog's breath.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
  • Always consult your vet before introducing new foods into your dog's diet.
