Ingredients
Main Ingredients
1 1/2 cup peanut butter (or allergy-friendly substitute)
3/4 cup protein powder (approximately 90g), unsweetened
1/4 cup pure maple syrup (or honey; for keto option, substitute with a low-carb alternative)
1/2 tsp salt
Optional Coating
4 oz melted chocolate chips
2 tsp oil (optional, for smoother chocolate sauce)
Instructions
Prepare Ingredients: Measure out peanut butter, protein powder, maple syrup (or honey), and salt. Ensure the protein powder is unsweetened and you like its flavor as it affects the taste of the bars.
Mix the Dough: In a bowl, combine the peanut butter, protein powder, maple syrup, and salt. Stir well until a consistent dough forms that holds together.
Shape the Bars: Either shape the mixture into bars by hand or press it evenly into a lined 8x8 inch pan for easier cutting. Smooth the surface for an even thickness.
Apply Chocolate Coating (Optional): If using, melt the chocolate chips and optionally stir in 2 teaspoons of oil for a smoother texture. Spread the melted chocolate over the pressed dough in the pan or dip individual bars into the chocolate sauce.
Chill the Bars: Refrigerate the bars until firm and chilled, about 1-2 hours. If prepared in a pan, cut into 10 bars after chilling.
Serve and Store: Enjoy immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to one week for optimal freshness.
Notes
Use unsweetened protein powder to control sugar levels and taste.
Peanut butter can be replaced with any allergy-friendly or nut-free spread if needed.
For a keto-friendly version, use a low-carb syrup substitute.
Adding oil to the melted chocolate helps achieve a smoother texture but is optional.
Bars can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for about one week.
Customize flavor by adding nuts, dried fruits, or seeds before chilling.
