A bright and fresh Lemon Basil Vinaigrette that combines zesty lemon juice with aromatic basil and a hint of honey, perfect for salads or as a light dressing for vegetables. This easy-to-make vinaigrette takes just 5 minutes and can be prepared in a blender, food processor, or by whisking.

Ingredients

Vinaigrette Ingredients

  • 1/4 oz fresh basil leaves (approximately 1/4 cup, loosely packed)
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 tsp garlic (crushed or finely grated)
  • 1/4 tsp honey
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Place the basil leaves, extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, crushed garlic, honey, salt, and pepper into a small food processor or blender. Pulse just until all ingredients are thoroughly combined, creating a smooth vinaigrette. If you prefer, you can finely chop the basil and whisk all ingredients together in a bowl, or place everything in a jar and shake well to combine. Make sure the honey doesn't settle at the bottom; if it does, give it an extra stir.
  2. Store or Use: Use the vinaigrette immediately to dress salads or vegetables, or store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a few days. Before each use, remember to shake or whisk the vinaigrette to recombine any separated ingredients for the best flavor and consistency.

Notes

  • The vinaigrette will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days; always shake or whisk before use as ingredients may separate.
  • Adjust the amount of honey according to your preferred level of sweetness.
  • Fresh lemon juice is preferred over bottled for the best flavor.
  • Honey makes this recipe unsuitable for strict vegans; substitute with agave syrup if desired.
  • Use fresh basil for the brightest, most vibrant taste.
