This easy baked honey glazed salmon recipe offers a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors, combining flaky salmon fillets with a luscious honey-garlic glaze. Ready in just 25 minutes, it's an ideal healthy weeknight dinner that pairs beautifully with rice or cauliflower rice.

Ingredients

Glaze Ingredients

  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 cloves minced garlic (about 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 ½ tablespoons low sodium soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Salmon and Seasoning

  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (6 ounces each)
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • Squeeze of fresh lime juice or lemon juice
  • Chopped fresh cilantro or green onion for garnish

Optional

  • Prepared brown rice or cauliflower rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Dish: Place a rack in the center of your oven and preheat to 400°F. Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Make the Glaze: In a small saucepan, combine honey, minced garlic, low sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring often, until thickened but still pourable, about 3 minutes. Allow glaze to cool for 3 minutes.
  3. Prepare Salmon: Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and arrange evenly in the prepared baking dish without overcrowding. Brush each fillet with olive oil and sprinkle with kosher salt.
  4. Apply Glaze and Bake: Pour the prepared glaze over the salmon, spooning some from the bottom of the pan over the fillets. Bake in the oven for 6 minutes.
  5. Baste and Continue Baking: Remove from oven and baste the salmon again with the glaze collected at the bottom. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 6 to 8 minutes, depending on thickness, until salmon is cooked through and reaches 145°F or flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Rest and Serve: Spoon remaining glaze over salmon, squeeze fresh lime juice on top, sprinkle with chopped cilantro or green onion, and serve hot over prepared rice or cauliflower rice as desired.

  • To Store: Refrigerate leftover salmon in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • To Reheat: Gently warm salmon in a skillet over medium-low heat to preserve moisture and flavor.
  • To Freeze: Freeze leftovers in an airtight, freezer-safe container for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating. Thawed salmon can also be used in recipes calling for canned salmon.
