These Greek Burgers combine juicy ground beef with fresh spinach, tangy feta cheese, and flavorful sun-dried tomatoes for a Mediterranean twist on the classic burger. Enhanced with fresh vegetables and creamy tzatziki sauce, these burgers are perfect for a satisfying and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Burger Patties

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 5 ounces fresh baby spinach leaves, chopped
  • 2 ounces crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/3 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon table salt

Toppings and Buns

  • Sandwich buns
  • Fresh baby spinach leaves
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced shallot
  • Tzatziki sauce
  • Cooking oil (for toasting buns and cooking patties)

Instructions

  1. Make Burger Patties: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped spinach, crumbled feta cheese, chopped sun-dried tomatoes, egg, and salt. Mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution of ingredients. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties. Refrigerate the patties for at least 1 hour to help them set and hold their shape during cooking.
  2. Toast Buns: Heat a pan over medium heat or prepare a grill. Lightly drizzle the inside faces of the sandwich buns with cooking oil. Place the buns face down on the heated pan or grill. Toast them for a few minutes until they are golden and slightly crispy. Remove and set aside on a serving plate.
  3. Cook Burger Patties: Increase the pan heat to medium-high (or maintain medium heat to reduce smoke, noting it will take a bit longer). Add a drizzle of cooking oil to keep the pan from drying out. Cook the patties in batches to avoid crowding, flipping occasionally, until they are charred on both sides and reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) for safe consumption. Add more cooking oil if necessary during cooking.
  4. Serve: Assemble the burgers by placing each cooked patty on a toasted bun. Add fresh baby spinach leaves, sliced tomato, sliced shallot, and a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce. Serve the burgers hot and enjoy the Mediterranean flavors.

Notes

  • Note 1: Use high-quality ground beef with about 15-20% fat content for the best flavor and juiciness.
  • Note 4: Choose sandwich buns that can hold up to the toppings and sauce without becoming soggy; brioche or sesame buns work great.
  • Note 5: Tzatziki sauce can be homemade or store-bought; it adds a cool, creamy texture to complement the rich burgers.
  • Refrigerating the patties before cooking helps them keep their shape and reduces the chance of crumbling.
  • Cooking the burgers to an internal temperature of 160°F ensures they are safely cooked through according to USDA guidelines.
