This Garlic Parmesan Cheese Sauce is a rich, creamy, and flavorful sauce made from simple pantry staples in under 20 minutes. Perfect as a dip for wings and snacks or tossed with pasta, it combines buttery roux, garlic, Italian seasoning, chicken broth, heavy cream, and parmesan cheese to create a versatile and delicious addition to your meals.

Ingredients

Sauce Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4-6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 ½ cups grated parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Create the Roux: Set a sauté pan over medium-low heat. Add the butter and flour. Whisk continuously as the butter melts to create a smooth, foamy roux. Cook and stir the roux for 3-4 minutes until it turns a golden brown color.
  2. Sauté the Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the roux and simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the garlic softens and becomes fragrant.
  3. Add Seasonings and Broth: Stir in the Italian seasoning, onion powder, and chicken broth. Increase the heat to medium and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally to combine all the ingredients.
  4. Incorporate Cream and Cheese: Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Continue stirring until the cheese has fully melted, creating a smooth and creamy sauce.
  5. Season and Serve: Taste the sauce and season with salt and pepper as needed. Serve warm as a dip or toss with your favorite pasta.

Notes

  • Serve the sauce warm or cool and store it in jars in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • Reheat gently in a microwave in short bursts or in a saucepan over medium-low heat to prevent separating.
  • Serving size is approximately 2 oz per serving.
