These Fish Burgers are a quick and delicious meal featuring tender white fish patties flavored with Old Bay seasoning and parsley, served on hamburger buns with your favorite toppings like tartar sauce, lettuce, and pickles. Perfect for a light and satisfying lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 ½ pounds white fish (grouper, cod, tilapia, mahi)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning (or blackened seasoning)
  • ½ teaspoon salt

For Serving

  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Tartar sauce
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Pickles
  • Pickled jalapenos

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fish mixture: Cut the fish fillets into large chunks and place them in a food processor. Pulse 2-3 times to break the fish into smaller pieces. Add the panko breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, parsley, Old Bay seasoning, and salt, then pulse 2-3 more times until well combined, making sure to retain some texture so the fish is not pureed.
  2. Form patties: Divide the fish mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty roughly the size of the hamburger buns.
  3. Cook the patties: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and drizzle with olive oil. Cook each fish patty for about 4 minutes on each side, adjusting the heat if the patties brown too quickly, until golden and cooked through.
  4. Assemble the burgers: Place the cooked fish patties on the buns and top with tartar sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and pickled jalapenos or your preferred toppings before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overblend the fish mixture to maintain some texture in the patties.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste, adding more salt or Old Bay seasoning if desired.
  • Use a non-stick skillet or well-seasoned griddle for easy cooking and flipping.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
  • These burgers pair well with a side of fries or a fresh salad.
