Crockpot hot chocolate is a rich, creamy, and perfectly sweet warm beverage, ideal for cozy winter gatherings and parties. Made effortlessly in a slow cooker, it combines sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, and a blend of milks and creamers to deliver a comforting homemade treat that stays warm and ready to serve.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cans sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 12 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup half & half
  • 1 cup coffee creamer (any favorite flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows (optional for serving)

Instructions

  1. Mix base ingredients: In the bottom of a cold crockpot, whisk together 2 cans of sweetened condensed milk, 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract until smooth and fully combined.
  2. Add dairy and salt: Whisk in 12 cups of whole milk, 1 cup of half & half, and 1 cup of coffee creamer, making sure to scrape the sides of the crockpot to incorporate all ingredients. Stir in 1 teaspoon of salt thoroughly.
  3. Warm the mixture: Cover the crockpot and set to high heat for 2 hours, or on low heat for 4 hours. The goal is to warm the mixture through without actually cooking it. Once warmed to your desired temperature, switch the crockpot to the 'warm' or low heat setting to keep it at serving temperature.
  4. Serve with garnish: When ready to serve, stir in 1 cup of mini marshmallows if desired, and add more coffee creamer to taste. Serve immediately and enjoy your creamy, comforting hot chocolate.

Notes

  • Storing leftovers: Allow the hot chocolate to cool completely, then transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 4 days.
  • Reheating: Warm leftover hot chocolate on the stovetop in a saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently, until hot. Alternatively, reheat in a microwave-safe mug in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until hot.
  • Slow cooker usage: To keep hot chocolate warm during parties, use the slow cooker on the low or 'warm' setting for convenient serving.
