This Creamy Roasted Garlic Parmesan Pizza Sauce is a flavorful and rich sauce that brings a delightful twist to your pizza nights. Featuring roasted garlic, creamy parmesan, and a touch of spices, it creates a luscious base that enhances any pizza topping combination.

Ingredients

Roasted Garlic

  • 1 small head of garlic
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons potato starch or arrowroot starch
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup fresh Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Roast the Garlic: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Cut off the top end of the garlic bulb to expose the cloves, then brush the bulb with olive oil. Wrap it tightly in foil and roast for 40 minutes until the cloves are soft and can be squeezed out easily.
  2. Create the Starch Paste: In a skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Whisk in the potato starch until a thick paste forms, ensuring no lumps remain.
  3. Add Cream and Spices: Slowly whisk in the heavy cream along with salt, pepper, oregano, and nutmeg. Continue whisking until the mixture begins to thicken.
  4. Incorporate Roasted Garlic: Squeeze the roasted garlic cloves out of the bulb and mash them lightly. Add them into the sauce and whisk to combine evenly.
  5. Mix in Parmesan: Whisk in the fresh Parmesan cheese and cook for a few more minutes until the sauce reaches your desired thickness.
  6. Finish and Use: Remove the sauce from heat. Spread it evenly over your prepared pizza crust, add your favorite toppings, then bake according to your pizza recipe instructions and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use fresh Parmesan cheese for the best flavor and melting quality.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, cook it a little longer while whisking continuously.
  • Potato starch can be substituted with arrowroot starch for a similar thickening effect.
  • This sauce can also be used as a creamy dip or pasta sauce.
  • Roasting the garlic mellows out its sharpness and adds a sweet, nutty flavor.
