This Cherry Smoothie is a deliciously creamy and nutritious blend perfect for a healthy breakfast or refreshing snack. Packed with antioxidant-rich cherries, creamy almond butter, and fiber-filled oats and chia seeds, it's both satisfying and energizing. The use of frozen fruits and almond milk creates a smooth, thick texture that’s naturally sweetened and lightly flavored with vanilla bean paste.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 2 cups Cherries, pitted
  • 1 banana, sliced and frozen

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Almond butter
  • 1 cup Almond milk, plus more if needed
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla bean paste

Dry Ingredients

  • ⅔ cup Old fashioned oats
  • 1 tablespoon Chia seeds

Optional

  • ½ cup Ice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Pit the cherries if not already done, and slice and freeze the banana. Freezing the fruits enhances the smoothie’s creamy texture and chill.
  2. Blend Dry Ingredients: For better texture, especially with less powerful blenders, start by placing the oats and chia seeds in the blender and blend for a few seconds until they break down into finer particles.
  3. Add Remaining Ingredients: Add the pitted cherries, frozen banana slices, almond butter, almond milk, vanilla bean paste, and ice if using to the blender with the processed oats and chia seeds.
  4. Blend Smooth: Blend all the ingredients until smooth and creamy. Pause to scrape down the sides as needed to ensure everything is well blended. If the smoothie is too thick, add more almond milk or ice to adjust to your preferred consistency.
  5. Serve: Pour the smoothie into glasses. Garnish with fresh cherries and a sprinkling of chia seeds for an extra touch of flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Freezing cherries before blending produces a richer, smoother smoothie but is optional.
  • Using a frozen banana or adding ice keeps the smoothie chilled and enhances texture if cherries are not frozen.
  • For added sweetness, feel free to add sweeteners like agave syrup, maple syrup, or softened dried fruits such as dates, prunes, or figs.
  • If using a low-powered blender, pre-blending the oats and chia seeds separately ensures a smoother texture.
