A quick and healthy Blueberry Chia Jam recipe made with just two simple ingredients: antioxidant-rich blueberries and omega-3 packed chia seeds. This no-cook jam is easy to prepare using the microwave or stovetop, perfect for a quick spread without added sugars or preservatives.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • ½ cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • 2 teaspoons chia seeds

Instructions

  1. Microwave Blueberries: Microwave the blueberries for about 60 seconds to soften them and allow their natural juices to seep out.
  2. Mash Blueberries: Carefully remove the hot blueberries from the microwave and mash the larger pieces with a fork or the back of a spoon to break up chunks.
  3. Add Chia Seeds: Stir in the chia seeds thoroughly and allow the mixture to set at room temperature or in the fridge for at least 15 minutes to thicken and gel.
  4. Store Jam: Transfer the jam into an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
  5. Optional Stove-Top Method: For stovetop preparation, cook blueberries in a small pan over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, mashing occasionally. Remove from heat, stir in chia seeds, and allow to set for at least 15 minutes before storing.

Notes

  • Chia jam can be made with various fruits like raspberry, cherry, and strawberry. Adjust sweetness by adding a little honey if desired.
  • For larger batches, use a deep bowl to prevent bubbling overspill. For example, for 2 cups of fruit use 1½ tablespoons of chia seeds and microwave for 2-3 minutes, letting it set for 30 minutes.
  • For 4 cups of fruit, use 3 tablespoons of chia seeds and let set for at least 45 minutes.
  • Ensure all ingredients are gluten-free and dairy-free by checking product packaging carefully, especially if following specific dietary restrictions.
  • Jam will keep refrigerated for up to 10 days in a sealed container.
