These Baked Cauliflower Nuggets are a delicious, crispy, and healthier alternative to traditional fried snacks. Coated in a flavorful breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture, then baked to golden perfection, they make a perfect appetizer or side dish that pairs well with your favorite dipping sauces.

Ingredients

For the Cauliflower Nuggets

  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 cups cauliflower florets
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Cooking oil spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s hot and ready for baking the cauliflower nuggets to a crispy texture.
  2. Prepare the breadcrumb mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Panko breadcrumbs, freshly grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Whisk these ingredients together until the mixture is evenly blended to ensure consistent flavor and coating.
  3. Dip and coat the cauliflower: Pour the beaten eggs into a small bowl. Take each cauliflower floret and dip it into the egg, then transfer it to the breadcrumb mixture. Press the crumbs firmly onto each floret to help the coating stick well and form a crispy crust when baked.
  4. Arrange on baking sheet: Place the breaded cauliflower nuggets onto a large half-sheet baking pan lined with parchment paper. Evenly spray the coated nuggets with cooking oil spray to promote browning and crispiness during baking.
  5. Bake the nuggets: Bake the cauliflower nuggets in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. For best results, check halfway and rotate the baking sheet if needed to ensure even cooking.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces such as ranch or BBQ for a tasty snack or appetizer.

Notes

  • Use fresh cauliflower florets to achieve the best texture and flavor.
  • Make sure to press the breadcrumbs onto the cauliflower firmly for maximum crunch.
  • Cooking oil spray helps achieve a crispy outer layer without deep frying.
  • To keep nuggets warm and crispy before serving, place them on a wire rack in a warm oven.
  • Try different dipping sauces like honey mustard, spicy sriracha mayo, or garlic aioli for variety.
